Recently, I had the pleasure of joining Lauren Keen Aumond on her podcast, Adulting Is Easy, to talk about a subject very close to my heart: becoming first-generation wealthy.
As someone who didn’t inherit wealth but built it brick by brick, I know firsthand that the path isn’t always glamorous—but it is absolutely possible. In our conversation (Episode 206), we explored what that journey really looks like and how you can walk it with confidence and clarity.

Wealth Starts with Purpose—Not Products
One of the biggest misconceptions about building wealth is that it starts with picking the right stock or crypto coin. It doesn’t.
It starts with purpose.
If you don’t know your “why,” you’ll chase everything that glitters—and you’ll burn out, overspend, or make misaligned decisions. That’s why the first and most important of the three financial superpowers I teach is Clarity of Purpose. When you know what you want your money to do for you—and why—you gain a superpower that most people never unlock.
The Wealth Formula Most Millionaires Use
The truth is, most millionaires aren’t influencers or lottery winners. They’re teachers, business owners, engineers—regular people who consistently invest in retirement accounts, live below their means, and stay the course.
On the show, I shared how boring wealth-building really is. But boring works. It’s the second superpower: The Power of a Plan. That’s your blueprint—your framework for getting from where you are to where you want to be.
And of course, none of it matters if you don’t follow through. That’s where The Power of Execution comes in. Without action, even the best plan is just paper.
Start with the Basics—and Build
One of the best places to start is building your emergency fund. I call it your "financial shock absorber"—and believe me, it’s just as important as the shocks on your car when you hit a rough patch.
From there, commit to a habit of investing—even if it’s small at first. What matters most is the rhythm and resilience.
Your Wealth Is Your Responsibility—and That’s Empowering
Being a first-generation wealth builder isn’t just about accumulating money. It’s about breaking cycles, healing money stories, and creating freedom for yourself and future generations.
That journey requires clarity, consistency, and community—which is why I’m so grateful to share my experience on Lauren’s podcast. If you haven’t heard the episode yet, I encourage you to give it a listen:
And if you're ready to tap into your financial superpowers, grab a copy of my book, Unleash Your Financial Superpowers. It’s a guide to transforming your money mindset and creating the clarity you need to thrive.
Because wealth isn’t just for “them.”It’s for you, too. And it starts today.
